About the Atlantic Immigration Program

The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) took over from the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP), which closed in December 2021. The AIP, an employer-centric initiative in Canada, assists prospective businesses in hiring international students and recent graduates.

If you submitted a PR application through AIPP, you must reapply, as AIP serves as a pathway to Canadian permanent residency for skilled professionals.

AIP Eligibility Criteria for Employers

An employee driven initiative

  1. Conducting business activities in any of the Atlantic Provinces
  2. Have been operational for at least one year.
  3. Show a legitimate requirement for international workers to address job openings.
  4. Provide foreign workers with full-time, permanent employment opportunities.
  5. Fulfill the required minimum recruitment efforts to hire Canadian citizens or permanent residents prior to engaging foreign workers.
  6. Adhere to applicable federal and provincial laws and regulations concerning employment and immigration.

AIP Eligibility Criteria for Applicants

  1. A valid job offer that’s applicable in any of the four provinces.
  2. Minimum one year of full-time work experience.
  3. Successfully finished a 2 year program at any accredited post-secondary Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
  4. Financial capability to support oneself and family.
  5. Passed the minimum language requirement in French or English.

Atlantic High-Skilled Program (AHSP)

This particular sub-stream is tailored for exceptionally skilled individuals who have received a job offer from an employer in any of the Atlantic provinces within a high-skilled occupation (National Occupational Classification Skill Level 0, A, or B).

Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program (AISP)

This sub-stream is focused on individuals who have received a job offer from an employer in any of the Atlantic Provinces within an occupation classified as intermediate-skilled (National Occupational Classification Skill Level C).

Atlantic International Graduate Program (AIGP)

This sub-stream is designed for international graduates who have successfully completed a full-time program lasting at least two years at a publicly funded institution in any of the Atlantic Provinces.
